Arts of the Working Class' playlist of the week comes from pop artist Magic Island in anticipation for their new album and the 11th edition of the Down by the River Festival, taking place for the first time online. The playlist contains a variety of sounds and moods that inspired Magic Islands' upcoming album: "some songs for love, some for screaming, and some for cruising around Neukölln on these hot summer days."

Having been described as 'honest pop,' Magic Island's soundscape is permeated by haunting and unforgettable flavours. The artist weaves together unembellished compositions with tangles and twists of her signature weirdness. Starting with short vocal lines and looping melodies on her keyboard, Magic Island builds them up and out, pulling freely from R&B, experimental pop, and soulful sounds.
